Austin is give back to the community. It is time to kick-off community service day.
There will be a morning rally and volunteer meet-up at Austin City Hall’s Plaza on Saturday (May 14). There will be canned-food drive, clothing drive, and community service afterwards. All you have to do is sign up as a volunteer to improve the community of Austin. You can be a project leader or a create your own project at this community service day.

Going Up wants to educate and provide support to the at-risk LGBT youth to prevent homelessness and suicide and you can help to support that.
Going up day—Gays: Organized, Involved, Never Giving Up—strives to unite the LGBT community while educating the community about their strong pursuit in equal rights. They are a strong community of LGBT and open their arms to anyone willing to join them in pursuing full equal rights.
Volunteering with Going Up will give strong support to the LGBT community and the youth. There will be an after party to the community service day.
Unite! Ring Wedding themed launch party will be at Cheer Up Charlie’s at 8 pm. There will be disco DJ’s, live music, wedding cake, and free drinks to the first 100 people by Titos Vodka. Come dressed to impress.
Support the LGBT community, but more importantly help the Austin community and youth.

Now that the holidays are over, and January rolls in with its dismal cold weather, there is a strong need for something to look forward to! What are your thoughts about this idea!?
A soup party!
Before you roll your eyes or laugh, think about this…Warm hearty comfort soup, fresh baked corn bread, fun decorative ceramic bowls or mugs, perhaps a festive winter beverage, and good friends gathering around a cozy fire or flat screened TV!
Quite frankly, I find that to be the illustration of a good night, and I rarely eat soup! I do however like the idea of it!

Regardless, this is easy, and something to look forward to on a random, cold, dark before 5pm, holiday-less January weeknight! Everyone has to eat right?

“Moist and Zippy” Cornbread
Combine:
Mix Well then Stir In:
Add:
Mix well then spoon in 1/2 of mixture into 12” greased skillet then sprinkle 1 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese and cover with remaining batter. Bake on 325 for 30-40 minutes.
